Friends of the Bridegroom
We are familiar with the concept of the church being the bride of Christ (which is covered in detail in the previous section), but there is another significant relationship with Jesus regarding Him as the Bridegroom. John the Baptist saw himself and his disciples as friends of the Bridegroom.
Friends of the Bridegroom, according to John, are those that rejoice at the sound of His voice (John 3:29). Likewise, our joy "becomes full" as we listen for and hear His voice - His communication with us.
